1. What is a Bubble chart?

A bubble chart displays the relationship between 3 different numeric variables in the form of bubbles. The horizontal and vertical position of the chart shows the value of 2 numeric variables. The other variable is represented by the size of the individual bubbles.

When to use a Bubble chart?

  • Consider using a bubble chart when you have 3 numerical variables: one is represented by the X-axis, one by the Y-axis, and one by the dot size.

  • A bubble chart is great at showing the relationship between 2 variables with additional information from another variable.

2. How to build a Bubble chart with example

The bubble chart offers a visual representation of the relationship between cost, profit, and revenue, with each bubble representing a data point. The size of the bubble indicates the revenue, while the horizontal and vertical positions represent the cost and profit respectively, providing a comprehensive view of how these variables interrelate and aiding in identifying patterns or outliers within the data.

  1. Click Click here to add your first chart

  2. In the menu, select Bubble to create a bubble chart

3. Bubble Chart Config

  1. Select the database you use to create suggested in the list

  2. Choose the table containing the data you use to create, then it will show you the list of fields included in the table

  3. Drag/drop or select the X-Axis value

  4. Drag/drop or select the Y-Axis value

  5. Drag/drop or select the Value (the third numeric variable)

  6. Drag/drop or select the Legend properties (optional)

  7. Drag/drop or select the Sorting field to sort out the data in the chart (optional)

  8. Drag/drop or select the Filters field to emphasize a specific data (optional)
